Diabetes Infection SGLT 2 Inhibitors

Suffering From Necrotizing Fasciitis After Taking an SGLT2 Inhibitor Drug?

If you or a loved one has taken an SGLT2 inhibitor medication to manage type 2 diabetes and have subsequently suffered from necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating bacteria, you may be entitled to compensation. The experience of suffering from this horrific condition can be overwhelming, leaving victims with physical and emotional scars that can last a lifetime. As a personal injury attorney, I understand the pain and trauma you may be facing, and I am here to help you seek the justice and compensation you deserve.

What Is the Lawsuit About?

Patients who were prescribed a Type 2 Diabetes Drug called an SGLT2 Inhibitor developed a painful and life-threatening flesh-eating genital infection also known as Fournier’s gangrene.

In 2018, the FDA posted a warning to the public about a “rare but serious infection of the genitals and area around the genitals” linked to a class of type 2 diabetes medicines called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. The FDA has recorded 12 cases of Fournier’s gangrene in both men and women from 2013 to 2018. Each of these patients developed the condition within several months of starting an SGLT2 inhibitor regimen and all of them required hospitalization. While this condition is extremely rare on its own (with an incidence of 6 cases in three decades), SGLT2 inhibitors are linked to 12 cases in only 5 years, one of them resulting in death. If you believe you developed Fournier’s gangrene after receiving an SGLT2 inhibitor, you may be entitled to a lawsuit for monetary damages.
