What is the Lawsuit About?
Patients who were prescribed a Type 2 Diabetes Drug called an SGLT2 Inhibitor developed a painful and life-threatening flesh-eating genital infection also known as Fournier’s gangrene.
In 2018, the FDA posted a warning to the public about a “rare but serious infection of the genitals and area around the genitals” linked to a class of type 2 diabetes medicines called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. The FDA has recorded 12 cases of Fournier’s gangrene in both men and women from 2013 to 2018. Each of these patients developed the condition within several months of starting an SGLT2 inhibitor regimen and all of them required hospitalization. While this condition is extremely rare on its own (with an incidence of 6 cases in three decades), SGLT2 inhibitors are linked to 12 cases in only 5 years, one of them resulting in death. If you believe you developed Fournier’s gangrene after receiving an SGLT2 inhibitor, you may be entitled to a lawsuit for monetary damages.

Could not recommend the Angell Law Firm more. I specifically worked with attorney Harmon Groves. I was blown away at how fast he and the firm worked to get me my settlement. More than that, they add a personal, human touch to their practice. I never felt like I was “just another client.” I HIGHLY recommend them for all personal injury cases.

Settlement amounts vary on a case-by-case basis and your legal team will work with you to investigate your claim and decide on the most appropriate course of action. The amounts awarded for each settlement have been kept confidential by both parties in most cases.
What You Need to Know
- Payouts vary case by case.
- Litigations are still ongoing and most settlement amounts have not been disclosed.
That should not stop you from seeking compensation for the pain, suffering, and financial difficulties that you may have experienced after taking an SGLT2 drug and being diagnosed with Fournier’s gangrene.
